Reporting directly to the CEO, the VP of Finance & Accounting presents a unique opportunity to join a fast-growing, innovative, and highly entrepreneurial provider of coffee retail services. The VP, Finance & Accounting will quickly gain an understanding of Roasting Plant Coffee.

The VP, Finance & Accounting will be a key executive team member, working closely with the EO and functional and operating leaders, to lead and oversee all USA financial and accounting activities. In addition, the role will also work closely with other key stakeholders, including customers, lending partners, the board of directors, and Roasting Plant Coffee’s private equity investors.

  • Proven CFO experience, preferably in a multi-unit retail, F&B or hospitality business.
  • Expertise in corporate financial law and risk management practices.
  • Passion for growing a business and an entrepreneurial flair.
  • Solid management and supervisory skills.
  • A team player with good communication skills.
  • Strong work ethic, and highly motivated as part of a lean leadership team.
  • Excellent analytical and organizational skills.
  • Proficient with US GAAP including proficiency with R&D accounting as well as cross-border accounting and tax preparation and filings.
  • Proficient in using Sage Finance System.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Effectively and succinctly synthesize data and information to provide insights and financial perspectives to both internal and external stakeholders. A true strategic partner to the CEO and leadership team.
  • A leader who enjoys the daily challenge of a fast-paced environment where priorities may shift quickly is expected to do a lot with limited resources across various duties.

Some of the essentials ...

  • BA / BS in math, finance, accounting, business administration or other quantitative discipline is highly preferred. MBA or Masters degree in Finance/Accounting preferred.
  • Designation as Certified Public Accountant or Certified Management Accountant.
  • 15+ years of professional experience, 6+ years of which in financial and operations management.
  • Strong GAAP & IFRS accounting skills.
  • Grounded in accounting, processes, and controls, and successful experience working closely with audit firms and their partners on tax and audit issues; respected by auditors as a technically capable finance executive with strong management skills.
  • Experience in working with a lending partner, including quarterly reporting requirements.
  • Experience working within a private equity-backed environment is preferred.
  • Experience in business planning, including developing monthly, quarterly, and annual budgets and comparison of such against forecast and actual results.
  • Superior skills in spreadsheets and other computer applications used in financial reporting and analysis, with emphasis on Excel and databases.
  • Ability to learn new software programs very quickly, and capable of implementing systems to standardize, combining information from different sources to produce powerful financial reports and scenario analyses.

As a hybrid role, Roasting Plant Coffee prides itself on having a strong team-oriented culture and the leadership team meets in-person regularly, and travel will be required.

Candidates’ work location will be in Washington, D.C. and will be required to commute to this location each week. Travel throughout the USA and internationally will be required to undertake the duties of the role.
