Job Summary:

Naadam is seeking a driven, resourceful, and detail-oriented Technical Design Manager to play a critical role in Naadam's Product Team! Under the supervision of the SVP of Product, this role will lead and oversee the Technical Design function, guiding each style from initial concept through final production across Naadam’s Women’s and Men’s e-commerce, wholesale, and mass-market assortments.

This role serves as the critical link between Product Development, Design and Production. The Technical Design Manager will own the end-to-end technical development process, leading fit sessions, managing technical documentation, and driving clear, actionable communication with global manufacturing partners to execute design intent at the highest level.

As the leader of the Technical Design team, this role establishes and upholds best-in-class fit standards, quality benchmarks, and technical development processes across all categories. The position drives continuous improvement in product performance, reduces return rates through enhanced fit and construction, and supports margin improvement through efficient development and execution—ensuring consistent product integrity and operational excellence that support Naadam’s long-term growth and profitability.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead, mentor, and develop the Technical Design team, fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Own end-to-end fit, construction, and technical standards across all product categories, including knitwear, wovens, and cut & sew, across womenswear and menswear.
  • Establish and maintain consistent, brand-right fit philosophies, measurement standards, grading rules, and construction guidelines across all channels and size ranges, including Women’s Missy, Women’s Plus, and Men’s.
  • Lead the creation, accuracy, and execution of tech packs from initial development through final approval, including detailed construction notes, measurement specifications, fit intent, diagrams, reference imagery, and construction mockups.
  • Partner closely with Design, Product Development, Merchandising, and Production to translate creative direction into commercially viable, production-ready product while maintaining accountability to calendar, quality, cost, and brand standards.
  • Lead fit sessions on live models, providing clear and actionable feedback through written comments, on-body and flat measurements, digital imagery, and construction recommendations.
  • Review and validate fit comments and technical work completed by Associate Technical Designers to ensure accuracy, clarity, consistency, and proper factory execution.
  • Manage vendor and factory communication by creating clear tools, standardized processes, visual charts, and documentation that improve accuracy, efficiency, and alignment throughout development and production.
  • Proactively partner with vendors to resolve complex fit, construction, quality, costing, and production challenges, including initiating calls when needed to drive timely decision-making.
  • Own and continuously improve technical design systems, PLM workflows, grading processes, spec standards, and vendor adoption within Centric PLM.
  • Onboard and train vendors in Centric PLM to ensure accurate system usage, timely updates, and consistent communication.
  • Manage seasonal technical design workflow and development calendars to ensure key milestones, sample reviews, approvals, and deadlines are met.
  • Analyze wear-test results, fit feedback, returns insights, and customer experience opportunities to recommend product improvements.
  • Identify potential production, quality, fit, or costing risks early in the development process and propose proactive solutions.
